Chamomile (Flores chamomillae vulgaris) (Kamillenkraut)

Chamomile is an annual plant from the Asteraceae family, found everywhere in weedy places. Chamomile heads. used in medicine (Flores chamomillae vulgaris).

Latin name: Matricaria recutita, Matricaria chamomilla, Anthemis nobilis

English name: Camomile, German camomile, Roman camomile, wild camomile, garden camomile, low camomile, etc.

Active substances: essential oil (which includes chamazulene, flavonoids, cadien), caprylic, isovaleric acids and some other substances; ascorbic and nicotinic acids, choline, coumarins, phytosterol, matricin, apigenin, apiin, herniarin, bitterness, carotene, gums, protein substances and fatty acids (oleic, linolenic, palmitic, stearic).

Hamazulen has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects, enhances regeneration processes. Apigenin and apiin relax the smooth muscles of the internal organs and eliminate spasms. It should be borne in mind that chamazulene is partially destroyed by boiling.

Application. As a tea, chamomile is prescribed for digestive disorders, overwork and poor health. With inflammation of the oral cavity and pharynx (stomatitis, tonsillitis, tonsillitis, etc.), rinse is done, for diseases of the female genital area - douching, and for gout and articular rheumatism, they take a bath with chamomile infusion. Chamomile gives shine and softness to hair.

Chamomile tincture is used to cleanse ulcers, eczema and inflamed eyelids. With boils, sweating and hemorrhoids, it is used in the form of a lotion.
